GNW Tasks

For the last two years at Great Northern War I was invited to come along to the MoralezBeaumont Household meeting that is held at Great Northern War everyyear. The first year I attended was in 2008 where the members of my household just sat and observed the goings on.

Every year MoralezBeaumont set themselves tasks for the following year. Last year the friends of MoralezBeaumont were also invited to set tasks for themselves to achieve over the next 12 months.

I set myself three:
To become authorised as a heavy Fighter
Enter a 16th C costume in Laurel Prize Tourney
Take up a craft that she hasn't done before

Of the three tasks so far I have only achieved becoming authorised as a heavy fighter, YAY!

Time will tell if I achieve the other two, but it is looking somewhat doubtful at this stage.

  1. Oh ye of little faith in yourself. This is more than achievable.

You're currently making a C16th garment right now - that is perfectly appropriate. You could just enter in a shirt or something. Doesn't matter. What is good about the LPT is that you'll get some useful tips and feedback. Don't sweat on the show and tell part.

As for a new craft? Well on Friday at A&S we'll be bringing out the toys to try out some calig and illum. It's fun!

  2. Thanks for the vote of confidence!

I think I will go with the idea of making a shirt. I realised that the boning I put in the bodice for the red frock is a wee bit long (or I may just have positioned it incorrectly). Anyway it is creating an odd point at the bottom of the bodice so I will need to fix that up.

C&I is what I was thinking for the new craft so I will have to give it a go on Friday.
